The San Antonio Symphonic Band is a vibrant wind ensemble dedicated to
bringing top-tier concert band performances to San Antonio and its surrounding communities!
We’re all about delivering powerful, captivating music that moves and inspires.
Welcome to the world of the San Antonio Symphonic Band, where passion meets performance!
Our 80+ member, all-volunteer ensemble, including talented musicians and dedicated conductors, comes together for the love of music, receiving no compensation other than the joy of playing and the applause of our community. Formed as the San Antonio Municipal Band, the San Antonio City Council designated the band as the official band of the Alamo City on September 4, 1986. We were soon recognized as a non-profit organization by the Texas Secretary of State and the IRS, and we've been making music history ever since!
Today, we perform as the San Antonio Symphonic Band, "All America City Band throughout the year. As the official band of the Alamo City, our annual Fiesta concert is the only self-funded and longest-running "Official Fiesta Event."
Our first concert, held at the Hemisfair Convention Center on November 30, 1986, set the stage for our tradition of excellence. With 65 musicians captivating a large audience of delegates at the National League of Cities convention, we began a legacy that continues to inspire. From the spirited marches of Sousa to classical transcriptions, Fiesta-themed tunes, showstoppers, and contemporary concert band pieces, we perform a diverse repertoire, each piece carefully chosen to suit the theme of the concert.
Throughout the years, we've had the honor of performing alongside distinguished soloists and ensembles, such as Miss Vikki Carr, The Canadian Brass, trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti, and the San Antonio Choral Society. We've also been conducted by renowned maestros like Col. George S. Howard, Frank Ticheli, Clyde Roller, and Mark Hindsley. Highlights include being featured at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention twice and stirring up patriotic fervor at Fourth of July celebrations!
Join us in celebrating this vibrant musical journey and be a part of the legacy that is the San Antonio Symphonic Band!
